Guilt Free Dessert 2019 Initiative Shatters Previous Fundraising Record

Salt Lake City (April 18, 2019) – Now in its 13th year, Squatters and Wasatch Brew Pubs’ Guilt Free Dessert initiative has shattered previous records, raising an astounding $39,945 for Utahns Against Hunger (UAH). This large-scale fundraising effort ran during the month of March at all Squatters and Wasatch Brew Pubs and the West Side Tavern. Throughout the month, all proceeds from sales of a special $5 dessert directly benefited the anti-hunger advocacy group.

With the support of Nicholas & Company, who generously donated the ingredients for the dessert, this year’s charitable campaign doubled the donation from 2018. “We have been supporters of and partners with UAH for many years, and after the last couple years saw some of their funding run dry, we decided to step in and do what we could to support such a worthy cause,” said Doug Hofeling, Chief Operating Officer for Salt Lake Brewing Company.

“We look forward to this initiative all year long,” said Marketing Manager, Lauren Boyack. “Our commitment to social responsibility and our local community is deeply rooted in the mission of Squatters and Wasatch, and it’s evident in all that we do.”

Utahns Against Hunger persistently and proactively works with legislators, administrators and community partners to combat food insecurity statewide. For 38 years, the group has extended the reach of federal nutrition programs, addressed misconceptions about those experiencing hunger in Utah and made resources available through advocacy, outreach and education.

“Guilt Free Dessert is such a fun and unique way to raise money. This support feels very personal to UAH this year, and we appreciate every single brownie purchased. We also appreciate the response to the work UAH does,” said UAH Executive Director, Gina Cornia. “We have always valued our relationship with Squatters and Wasatch Brew Pubs. They knocked it out of the park this year, and it means so much to us.”
