Mama’s Little Yella Pils Earns Gold

Oskar Blues Brewery is proud to share that three of their craft beers earned accolades at the 2019 Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA).

Mama’s Little Yella Pils, a crushable, 4.7% ABV year-round offering built on Pilsner and Honey malt and hopped with Saaz and Aramis hops, won a Gold Medal in the Bohemian Style Pilsner category. Judges called it “A very well made beer.”

A Silver Medal in the American Style IPA category was awarded to Can-O-Bliss Tropical IPA, part of the Can-O-Bliss rotating IPA series. The judging panel noted the beer’s “good hop aroma and flavour” and called it “fresh and vibrant.”

In the Wood-And-Barrel-Aged Strong Beer segment, Bamburana Double Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout, a 12.2% ABV collaboration project with Cigar City Brewing, earned a Bronze Medal. Judges’ comments included “fruit was outstanding” and “very woody.”

AIBA evaluates over 1,700 entries from around the world. The competition, which accepts both draft and packaged submissions, is judged by a highly regarded panel of industry experts.
