Barrel Crusher Barrel-Aged Double Rye India Pale Ale Is Back

March 5, 2019

This Massive Barrel-Aged Brew is Available in 22oz Bottles and on Draft Throughout Texas

Deep Ellum Brewing Company’s Barrel Crusher Barrel-Aged Double Rye India Pale Ale is back! Barrel Crusher boasts maple bourbon sweetness and stone fruit, with smooth-yet-spicy notes from up to three years of barrel-aging in whiskey and rye barrels. Barrel Crusher is now available on draft and in 22oz bottles in the Dallas taproom and will soon hit stores throughout Texas.

At 13% ABV and over 100 IBU’s, Barrel Crusher is a beer to be reckoned with. It’s hopped with clean, crisp Magnum hops, aromatic Summit, herbal, piney Simcoe and delicately floral Liberty hops – a robust hop combination that’s balanced by Vienna, Honey and Pale Ale Malt, and brought into sharp focus with the addition of rye. Flavors are further amplified by a long sojourn in whiskey barrels, imparting sweet-and-spicy notes.

“Aged in a combination of new oak and whiskey barrels, the 2019 batch of Barrel Crusher is one of the most anticipated DEBC brews for staff and fans alike,” said Kyle Wilborn, Deep Ellum Production Manager. “The rich flavor of new oak barrels combined with the punch of whiskey barrels give this IPA a complexity and smoothness that is rare in a 13% ABV beer. Balanced out with a massive dose of resinous hops, Barrel Crusher is sure to be a crowd pleaser for Texas IPA lovers.”

About Deep Ellum Brewing Company

In 2011, Deep Ellum Brewing Company set up shop in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, Texas – the first craft brewery to open in Dallas in over a decade. Since then, Deep Ellum has become as well known for its innovative brewing and exceptional quality as it has for its healthy disdain for the status quo. Like the notorious neighborhood it calls home, the brewery is bold, fearless, and unapologetic. The idea of “blending in” was never part of the plan – at the bar or on the shelf. With a commitment to staying true to their reckless streak, their rough edges and their roots, Deep Ellum has quickly grown to become the 3rd largest independent craft brewery in Texas and the 65th largest brewery overall. Led by its flagships, Deep Ellum IPA and Dallas Blonde, the brewery has amassed an extremely devoted fan base across Texas and beyond.
